Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out the teachers’ attitude towards the children with mild learning hearing impairment. The study was canned out in selected schools, Kisiwani zone, Amu Division, m Lamu District. All the information was obtained from the teachers whereby the researcher used the

questionnaires to get the respondents used to carry out the research. The questionnaires were issued to the respondents as the same day and collected

after the exercise. There were later analysed manually but the percentages calculated using simple electronic calculator at computer calculator. The data analysis was focused on the variations between the responses of all the respondents from the schools. After calculating the percentages the frequency tables were drawii. The responses enabled the research to make outline of solutions and recommendations required. In the research, the researcher based

his findings only on the data collected during the research. Each research question was dealt with independently and findings discussed. The findings

show that the majority of teachers in Kisiwani zone have come across these pupils and have them in classes. The respondents were able to give various

causes of Mild Hearing Impairment, their views according to their traditional beliefs about causes. The teachers also put across their views on inclusion of these pupils with mild hearing impairment. The pupils can learn with other pupils in class as long as they are assisted with the necessary aids. From the

findings it shared that these are several factors to be considered before including learners with mild learning in class. The major findings were that the children have to be assessed to find at the level of their disability at crediting awareness to other children, teacher at plants. The fmdings made the researcher to come up with conditions at recommendations as what to be put in place to make inclusion a success whereby all teachers shall be trained how to handle the pupils with mild hearing impairment in classes.
